Equal Means Equal
Please join us for a very special screening hosted by the ERA Coalition/Fund for Women’s Equality, We Are Woman, and the Law Office of Jo Ann Palchak, P.A.
Equal Means Equal offers an unflinching look at how women are treated in the United States today. Examining both real-life stories and precedent-setting legal cases, director Kamala Lopez uncovers how outdated and discriminatory attitudes inform and influence seemingly disparate issues, from workplace harassment to domestic violence, rape and sexual assault to the foster care system, and the healthcare conglomerate to the judicial system. Along the way, she reveals the inadequacy of present laws that claim to protect women, ultimately presenting a compelling and persuasive argument for the urgency of ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment.
The film will be followed by a panel discussion and Q&A. A limited number of tickets are available for a pre-show VIP reception, which includes open bar and hors d’oeuvres from 5:30 to 6:30pm, plus first choice of seating for the film.
Tickets for the film screening and Q&A are $11 at Tampa Theatre's historic Box Office or $13 online (including fees.) VIP Reception tickets are $100 at the Box Office or $106 online. There are also Event Host Committee tickets available for the reception for $250 at the Box Office and $262 online, which include recognition on event signage. Net proceeds from the reception will benefit the Fund for Women’s Equality and We Are Woman, and those tickets are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Online purchasers will receive a donation receipt via email directly from the Fund for Women’s Equality the week after the event.
