The Trip To Spain (2017)
The Trip film franchise has defied sequel expectations by being funnier in each iteration, and The Trip to Spain continues that tradition. Quasi-biographical and uproariously funny, the series follows comedians Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon as they gallivant through beautiful countrysides, sample incredible food, do terrible impressions, and harangue each other about their careers. It’s more of the same, but it’s also exactly what you want.
After jaunts through northern England and Italy, in The Trip to Spain they embark on another deliciously deadpan culinary road trip. This time around, they head to Spain to sample the best of the country's gastronomic offerings in between rounds of their hilariously off-the-cuff banter. Over plates of pintxos and paella, the pair exchange barbs as well as more serious reflections on what it means to settle into middle age (and do a little filming on a comedic project of their own). As always, the locales are breathtaking, the cuisine to die for, and the humor delightful. The Trip to Spain is comfort food in movie form.
